Dr. Vry was born in Lexington, Kentucky. After obtaining his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, he completed medical school at the University of Kentucky. He completed his residency at both the University of Michigan and the University of Kentucky.
Upon his arrival in Greenville, Dr. Vry was a founding physician of Woodward Medical Center (formerly The Henry Woodward Clinic) in 1976 when he joined then-solo physician Dr. James B. Gowan to begin the group.
Dr. Vry is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics by the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Internal Medicine, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. His primary areas of interest are Adult Medicine and Geriatrics.
As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, Dr. Vry was a Division 1 NCAA College All-American swimmer. He continues to swim for exercise, and belongs to the US Swimming Masters Program which is run locally by the Greenville County Recreation Department. He and his wife are also actively involved in Western Square Dancing, and belong to two local dance clubs - the Legionnaires and the Thunderbirds. He has six children and 15 grandchildren.
